Steve Pettice, 74, of Potomac, IL

Steve Pettice, 74, of Potomac, passed away at 10:29 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2021, at his home.

Steve was born on September 4, 1946, at home in Alvin, Illinois, the son of James Daniel and Frances Mae (Rumble) Pettice.  He married the love of his life and bestest friend, Marilyn Hoskins on December 20, 1966, at the Potomac Church of Christ and they later renewed their vows on April 22, 2017.  She survives.

He is also survived by their three children- Sherry (Ed) Cundiff of Danville, Ron (Cherri) Pettice of Danville and Linda Pettice of Danville; nine grandchildren- Alex (Bailie) Cundiff, Adam (Rachel) Cundiff, Darren (Hailey) Cundiff, Justin Pettice, Joshua Pettice, Chayce Wagner, Kathy (Taylor) Liles, Connor McFarland and Cheyenne Howie; four great-grandchildren- Jade, Caleb, Theodore and Van Cundiff; sister-in-law- Shirley Hampton Pettice of Hoopeston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Dave and Mike Pettice, sister-in-law- Mindy Boen and nephew- Mikey Pettice.

Steve graduated from Rossville High School in 1965.  After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1965 to 1969.  Steve worked at General Motors, in Tilton for 25 years, until his retirement in 1993.  He was a member of the Hillery Assembly of God.  Steve enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and family get togethers.  He loved family game nights and was always (in good humor) the official score keeper and some how would always manage to win.  Steve was always known for his joking around and great sense of humor.  Steve was very in love with Jesus, and wanted all to know and accept Him as their Savior.

A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2021, at the Hillery Assembly of God, with Pastor Kenny Young officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Gundy Cemetery, in Bismarck.  Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, at the church.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Steve’s life.  Condolences may be sent to the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
