Virginia Ann Sheppard, 71, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 6:20 A.M. Saturday September 25, 2021, at Hawthorne Inn of Danville.  She was born February 17, 1950, the daughter of Ray and Jennie (Wilson) Stipp.  She married Steve Sheppard on September 7, 1968, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hoopeston.  He survives in Hoopeston. 

 

She is also survived by her mother, Jennie Stipp of Hoopeston, IL; three sons, Alan Sheppard of Hoopeston, IL, Mark Sheppard of Danville, IL, and Brad (Dawn) Sheppard of Lakewood, OH; one brother, Gordon (Renee) Stipp of Hoopeston, IL three sisters-in-law, Gayle (Pete) Davitto of Clarksville, GA, Joellyn (Mark) Hamm of Tilton, IL, and Jeannine (Donnie) Arvick Colfax, IL;; three brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Karen) Sheppard of Chatsworth, IL, Neil (Connie) Sheppard of St. Anne, IL, and Duane (Linda) Sheppard of Hoopeston, IL; five grandchildren, Jaylin Marcot, Ryan Sheppard, Kelan Sheppard, Taylor Sheppard, and Lauren Sheppard; and many nieces and nephews. 

 

She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Stipp; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sally and Gene Sheppard; and sister-in-law, Judy (Steve) Becker. 

 

Virginia worked as a registered nurse for Carle for 25 years until her retirement.  She loved spending time outdoors, gardening, and camping with her family.  She also enjoyed canning, watching Nascar, and spending time with her family and animals. 

Per her wishes, she will be cremated.  A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Tuesday October 5, 2021, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday October 5, 2021, at the funeral home, with Father Ted Pracz officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, IL.
