Melvin "Delbert" Remole, 96, of Potomac

Melvin "Delbert" Remole, 96, of Potomac, passed away peacefully at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Hawthorne Inn, in Danville.

Delbert was born March 2, 1925, in Reed, Kentucky, the son of Raymond and Ola (Kelly) Remole. He married Frances Auth on September 14, 1947. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2021. After celebrating 73 Christmases together, they are reunited once again, just in the nick of time to celebrate their 74th consecutive Christmas together.

Delbert is survived by his 4 children- Steve (Susan) Remole of Oakwood, Connie (Don) Rutledge of Danville, Chris (Randy) Hird of Danville and Stan (Mary) Remole of Potomac; 11 grandchildren and their spouses- Laura (Rob) Ruch, Ryan (Elaine) Remole, Scott (Brittney) Remole, Jill (Matt) Smith, Joy (Jason) Anderson, Jeff (Hanna) Alexander, Aaron (Amy) Hird, Brandon (Jillian) Hird, Denton (Mariah) Hird, Steven (Kerry) Remole and Michael (Gabby) Remole; 29 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles and Sonny Remole and sister, Geneva Stipp and their spouses.

Delbert graduated from Potomac High School, in 1943; he and Fran had their first date that night. Shortly after graduation, during World War II, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He and Fran were married in 1947 after his honorable discharge. They worked together as a team during their many business ventures. He was a member of the Potomac Church of the Nazarene, where he served faithfully in many capacities, including driving the church bus for many years. He served on the District Advisory Board of the Chicago Central District of the Church of the Nazarene and served the Board of Trustees of Olivet Nazarene University.

His love of music was passed on to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Listening to his family sing or watching his grandchildren compete in sports brought him great joy.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the Potomac Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor's Jeff Alexander and Randy Holden officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. preceding the funeral on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Potomac Church of the Nazarene or Hooves of Hope. The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Delbert's life.
