Dorothy Jean Prather, 85, of Hoopeston, passed away at 3:04 A.M. Tuesday January 25, 2022, at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living in Chrisman, IL. She was born in Hoopeston on April 21, 1936, to Bloyd and Pauline Pruitt. Dorothy married William Prather on November 4th, 1956, and he survives in Hoopeston. Together they raised five children, Mike Wood, Roger (Vickie) Wood, William “Clyde” Prather, Mary (Gale) Free, and Jim (Terri) Prather. She loved her 12 grandchildren, Danny, Andy, Adam, Nick, Darren, Eric, Tyler, Katy, Katie, Jeni, Kari, and Leah and enjoyed spoiling them and her 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Mike, and Roger Wood; one son-in-law, Gale Free; and three brothers, Don, Bob, and Fred Pruitt.
Dorothy loved to cook and have all her family over for holiday meals. She also thoroughly enjoyed gardening, finding a deal at an area garage sale, and having coffee with her friends.
A private family service will be held.
