George Lewis Burk, 84, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 1:18 A.M. Tuesday February 1, 2022, at his home. He was born November 5, 1937, in Bloomington, IL, the son of Dewey and Mary Catherine (Irwin) Burk. He married Janice Kay Bone on October 18, 1959, at the Hoopeston United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2006.
He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Burk and Kim of Hoopeston, IL; Roger (Penny) Burk of Hoopeston, IL; one sister, Pearl Carter of Austin, TX; two brothers, David (Lottie) Burk of Shreveport, LA and Lloyd (Mary) Burk of Rossville, IL; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Red Larkin.
George worked at FMC in Hoopeston for several years. He later worked in the maintenance department at Tee-Pak in Danville until his retirement. He loved riding his motorcycle and tinkering in his garage.
A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday February 9, 2022, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday February 10, 2022, at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Milton officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
