Eileen M. Leemon, 89, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 8:43 P.M. Wednesday May 25, 2022, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston.  She was born November 15, 1932, in Wellington, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Meda (Hocutt) Evans.   

She is survived by one son, William “Bill” (Jeanne) Leemon of Hoopeston, IL; one brother, Thomas Evans of Hoopeston, IL; one sister-in-law, Donna Fleming of Des Moines, IA; two grandchildren, Casey and Joshua Leemon of Hoopeston, IL; and five nieces and nephews, Floyd (Cindy) Evans, Jr. of Rossville, IL, Cindy Evans Hardwick of Hoopeston, IL, Dee Evans of Watseka, IL, Linda Gilman of Des Moines, IA; and Steve Berry of Des Moines, IA. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Floyd Evans; and one grandson, Matthew Leemon. 

Eileen worked at Scranton’s, which later became Gulbransen and then CBS, until her retirement. She was a member of the Hoopeston United Methodist Church where she helped with the “Feed My Lambs” program.  She loved all church activities and enjoyed watching college basketball and Chicago Cubs baseball. 

Per her wishes, she will be cremated. A visitation will be held 10:30 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Friday June 10, 2022, at the Hoopeston United Methodist Church, 403 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. A memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Friday June 10, at the church with Pastor Kathy Murphy officiating. Burial will be held at a later day.
