Harry Warren Davis Jr. 73, of Hoopeston

Harry Warren Davis Jr., 73, of Hoopeston, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022.

Harry was born February 26, 1949.  He is survived by the many people whose lives he touched, literally from around the globe.  His work and his curiosity about the world led him on many trips, including a months-long stay on a houseboat in Kashmir.  Among the people he influenced were his coworkers and students at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, where he served as head of instructional technology.

Harry was an avid student of life and grew gardens, created art, learned woodworking and could make delicious James Beard pancakes with one hand tied behind his back.  He was the beloved host of numerous parties and celebrated at least a handful of Christmases by decorating a ladder with lights and ornaments.  A voracious reader and movie fan, he also loved board and card games and was a formidable opponent.  He was active in the International Visual Literacy Association and, during his retirement in Hoopeston, Illinois, the American Legion.

Although his body will be cremated, he once told friends that his epitaph, should he have one, would be by one of his favorite authors, Kurt Vonnegut: “So it goes…”

Blurton Funeral Home is in charge of the cremation arrangements.  Condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
