Sharon Lou “Sherrie” Blackwell, 78, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 7:25 A.M. Tuesday July 12, 2022, at her home. She was born August 9, 1943, in Hoopeston, IL, the daughter of James and Bessie (Griffin) Thrasher.
She is survived by two daughters, Lori (Rey) Montez of Hoopeston, IL and Robyn (Tommy) Reagon of Byrdstown, TN; one sister, Julie (Gary) Ford; one brother, John (Rebecca) Thrasher of Byrdstown, TN; 3 grandchildren, Nickolas (Ashley) Montez, Autumn (Ethan) Clark, and Ashtyn (Hunter) Pryor; 6 great-grandchildren, Gavin, Trenton, and Reydon Montez, Ronnie Pryor, and Ellis and Harlan Clark; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Alexie Smith and Lesli Winningham; and two brothers, James and Jack Thrasher.
Sharon was a factory worker at Howard’s and Gulbranson Organs. She later became a dispatcher at Raven’s Trucking before becoming a beautician. She then worked as a sales representative at CVS in Hoopeston and most recently was a unit assistant at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living. She was a member of the Prairie Green Church of Christ. Sharon enjoyed going on dinner dates with her friends and playing cards. She loved to go shopping and enjoyed getting manicures and pedicures.
A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Monday July 18, 2022, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home, with Larry Baughn officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
