Brenda Colunga, 47, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 1:56 A.M. Saturday November 5, 2022, at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center. She was born July 2, 1975, in Hoopeston, IL, the daughter of Jose and Nora (Rangel) Colunga. They survive in Hoopeston.
She is also survived by two daughters, Kiara Colunga (Ezra Elliott) of Peoria, AZ and Makhia Colunga of Hoopeston, IL; four sons, Robert Colunga, Andre Colunga (Paige Jones), Davion Colunga (Alyssa Dowers), and Marcus Colunga all of Hoopeston, IL; two sisters, Oralia (Rick) Garcia of Mission, TX and Irene Colunga of Hoopeston, IL; two brothers, Jose (Sally) Colunga Jr. of Newman, IL and Daniel (Gloria) Colunga of Hoopeston, IL; six grandchildren, Jawzlynn Grant, Julian, Robert Jr., and Ráxavier Colunga, Emberlin Johnson, and Elliana Colunga; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Amedeo and Oralia Colunga and Alfredo and Jovita Rangel; and a special cousin, Juan Colunga Jr.
Brenda was a homemaker. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and driving. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and watching her son’s dogs, Nala, Tank, and Taiya. Brenda loved joking around and making people laugh.
A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday November 14, 2022, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. A rosary service will be held at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday November 15, 2022, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 423 S. 3rd St. Hoopeston, IL, with Father Ignatius Mulenda officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
