William L. "Bill" McNeely Sr., 82, of Hoopeston

William L. “Bill” McNeely Sr., 82, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 2:53 A.M. Friday November 11, 2022. He was born September 1, 1940, in Hoopeston, IL, the son of Ivan L. “Ike” and Hylma Fae (Whiteman) McNeely. He married Sandra Jo Kietzmann on June 7, 1958, in Hoopeston. She preceded him in death.  

He is survived by his fiancé, Brenda Eastburn; 3 daughters, Lori (Greg) Shipman, Teri McNeely (Darrell Estes), and Kasey (Kevin) Moore all of Hoopeston, IL; 5 sisters, Myrna Johnson of Hoopeston, IL, Sharon Frazier of Hoopeston, IL, Maureen Klein (Marty Hambleton) of Elburn, IL, Dana (Dan) Mitola of Auburndale, FL, and Lauren (Tommy) Rutledge of Cherokee Village, AR; 3 brothers, John “Jack” McNeely of Penfield, IL, Tim McNeely of Rankin, IL, and Mike (Cathy) McNeely of Bailey, NC; brother-in-law, Chuck Davis; sister-in-law, Patricia McNeely; 7 grandchildren, Brandon, Melia, Miranda, Chelsea, Alex, Brady, and Corey; 9 great-grandchildren, Delaney, Clayton, Rylan, Lillianna, Reagan, Josey, Maddie, June, and Maverick; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his wife, Sandra, he was preceded in death by his parents; one son, William L. “Billy” (Darlene) McNeely, Jr.; 3 sisters, Marlene McNeely, Florence Davis, and Nancee Mathew; 2 brothers, Pat and Joe McNeely; one sister-in-law, Cindy McNeely; and four brothers-in-law, Andy Stone, Howard Johnson, Don Frazier, and Bob Mathew. 

Bill worked for his father at McNeely Painting and Interior Design. He then became a food distributor for Charlie Chips and had several food delivery routes. He and wife, Sandy, owned and operated Parkway Dry Cleaners and later, Sandy’s Dress Shop. He then worked for Teasdale Foods in Hoopeston, until his retirement. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384. He was also a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hoopeston. Bill enjoyed playing cards, working crossword puzzles, and telling stories. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and eating at the bowling alley on Friday nights. 

A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Wednesday November 16, 2022, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 302 N. Market St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church, with Pastor Doug Minton officiating. Burial will follow in East Lynn Cemetery with military rites being accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.
