Otilia Montez, 86, of Hoopeston

Otilia Maria “Tillie” Montez, 86, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 12:30 P.M. Sunday November 20, 2022, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston. She was born March 7, 1936, in McAllen, TX, the daughter of Agustin and Consuelo (Morales) Obregon Sr. She married Antonio Montez Sr. on March 18, 1959, in McAllen, TX. He preceded her in death. 

She is survived by two daughters, Norma (Ryan) Cade and Angelica (Gary Watson) Montez Watson both of Hoopeston, IL; four sons, Antonio Montez Jr, Armando Montez, Jesus Montez, and Reynaldo (Lori) Montez all of Hoopeston, IL; one sister, Rosenda Basaldua of McAllen, TX; 10 grandchildren, Olivia (Junior Hartman) Montez, Madison (Austin Johnston) Watson, Nick (Ashley Pickett) Montez, Danielle (Joey Miranda) Watson, Jose (Britteny) Montez, Benjamin Montez, Xavier Rivera, Mila Watson Montez, Kamerin Cade, and Raven Rutherford; 14 great-grandchildren, Gavin, Trenton, Reydon, Dominick, Isaac, Violet, Kenyon, Elijah, Avery, Camden, Isabella, Zayla, Elliana, and Malakai; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband, Antonio Montez Sr., she was preceded in death by her parents; one infant daughter, Norma; three sisters, Carmen Obregon, Oralia Obregon, and Olivia Moreno; and three brothers, Florentino Obregon, Agustino Obregon, and Francisco Obregon. 

Tillie was a teacher for the Hoopeston Migrant Head Start. She also worked at several different factories throughout her life, including Stokely’s, Howard Industries, and Schumacher Electric. She attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hoopeston. Tillie loved music, fishing, playing bingo, and spending time with her family. 

A visitation will be held 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Monday November 28, 2022, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday November 29, 2022, at St Anthony Catholic Church, 423 S. 3rd St. Hoopeston, IL with Father Ignatius Mulenda officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
