Lois Joan Mershon, 90, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 7:34 P.M. Saturday November 26, 2022, at her home. She was born September 19, 1932, in Springfield, OH, the daughter of John and Sarah (Ryder) Kramer. She married Rev. Lewis E. Mershon Jr. on August 30, 1949, in Richmond, IN. He preceded her in death. 

She is survived by two sons, Keith (Elizabeth) Mershon of Danville, IL and Greg (Lori) Mershon of Rossville, IL; one sister, Bobbie Paul of Dayton, OH; five grandchildren, Haley Wilson, Gage Wilson, Alex (Laura) Mershon, Casey (Michaela) Mershon, and Seth Mershon (Shellee); four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Jean Strome. 

Lois worked for Olan Mills and then became a beautician. She later worked as a cook at the Hoopeston Hospital cafeteria, until her retirement. She was a member of the First Church of God where she was very active working with children, helping with AWANA, and VBS. She was also a prayer warrior and she and her husband held a weekly prayer group at their home. Lois was a graduate of Mr. Magic Clown School and loved bringing joy to others with Lodie Jody the clown. She also enjoyed reading, collecting bells and clowns, and helping her husband minister to others. 

A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Thursday December 1, 2022, at the Hoopeston First Church of God, 1004 E. Orange St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the church, with Pastor Micah Mobley officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
