Edward "Ed" James Knight, 76, of Catlin

Edward “Ed” James Knight, 76, of Catlin, passed away at 8:13 P.M. Thursday, December 29, 2022, at his home.

Ed was born on July 11, 1946, in Danville, the son of Ralph and Gwendolyn (Sherrill) Knight.  He married Marol Lee Maxwell.

He is survived by his wife-Marol Lee Knight; son- Michael (Jolene) Duckett of St. Joseph; three grandchildren- Kassidy (Jenna) Duckett of Champaign, Chloe Duckett of St. Joseph and Kylie Duckett of St. Joseph; two brothers- Dr. John L. (Esperanza) Knight of San Angelo, Texas and Kenneth (Jeanette) Knight of Potomac; three sisters- Loretta (Joe) Cox of Danville, Mary “Betsy” DePratt of Florida and Barbara (Dale) Olmstead of Buda, Texas; two sisters-in-law- Kathy Knight of Danville and Flora Belle Knight of Danville; several nieces and nephews; and many very close special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Richard Knight and William Knight, brother-in-law- William DePratt and nephew- Ricky Earl.

Ed graduated from Bismarck High School, in 1964 and later graduated from DACC, with his Associates Degree, in business.  In his younger years, he was very involved in flat track motorcycle racing and was known as “Fast Eddie”.  He was a master gardener, enjoyed genealogy, and watching Illini basketball.  Ed also enjoyed spending time with his fur baby-Harley.  He also enjoyed spending time at family dinners at the Kenneth Knight Family farm, in Potomac.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7th, 2023, at Blurton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Potomac American Legion.  Cremation rites have been accorded and he will be laid to rest at a later date in Gundy Cemetery, in Bismarck.  Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Ed’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
