Susan Irene Perkins, 78, of Rossville

Susan Irene Perkins, 78, of Rossville, passed away at 9:42 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Heritage Health, in Hoopeston.

Susan was born on August 2, 1944, in Milford, Illinois, the daughter of Louis Earl and Madge Ellen (Jesse) Fanning.  She married Kenneth Harry Perkins on December 17, 1961, in Milford, Illinois.  He survives.

She is also survived by one sister- Millie Rakowski of Chicago, Illinois; cousin- Fred Fanning of Milford, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers- Bill and Gilbert Fanning, two sisters- Pearl Gilbert and Celeste Fanning.

Susan worked for several years at Gul Branson and CBS as an organ tester.  She was a member of Faith Church of Christ, in Danville.  She was a past member of the Hoopeston Hobby Club, where she helped start the flea market at the Sweetcorn Festival.  She enjoyed collecting Bakelite jewelry, military dog tags and antiques.

A Celebration of Susan’s Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2023, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, with Pastor Bill Carpenter officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m.to 3:00 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.  She will be buried at a later date in Danville National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Faith Church of Christ, in Danville.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Susan’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at: www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
