Shirley Lee Lane, 86, of Hoopeston

Shirley Lee Lane, 86, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 6:00 A.M. Sunday January 29, 2023, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston. She was born January 22, 1937, in Boswell, IN, the daughter of Roy and Cozetta (Wagoner) Fix. She married Ronnie Lane on June 16, 1957, at the First Christian Church in Hoopeston. He preceded her in death.  

She is survived by two daughters, Kristie Lane Gonzalez of Hoopeston, IL and Shawn Lane of Hoopeston, IL; two sons, Jeffrey (Lisa) Lane of Kankakee, IL and Tory (Janice) Lane of Pasadena, MD; one sister, Carolyn Fix Longest of Hoopeston, IL; one brother, George (Sheila) Fix of Rotonda West, FL; one sister-in-law, Dixie Fix of Watseka, IL; six grandchildren, Nick (Elizabeth) Gonazalez, Chanelle (Markus) Davis, Courtney (Adam) Traeger, Kali (CJ) Goodrum, Caleb Lane, Cody Lane, Garrett White, and Andrew Lane; thirteen great-grandchildren, Ashton and Layla Birch, Kyli and Remington Davis, Navarro Gonzalez, Kaedyn, Avery, and Grayson Goodrum, Austin Traeger, Ryker and Cora Lane, and Cameron and Avalynn Lane; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ginny Probasco and Joyce Williams; one brother, Steve Fix; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Longest and Leon Probasco. 

Shirley was a cook at Pla-Mor Lanes lunch counter and later at the Corner Café. She was also a cake decorator for many years. After retirement she enjoyed living in Florida watching the sunset and later moved home to be near family. She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Hoopeston and later attended the First Church of God. She was also a member of the Women’s Bowling Association and Little League Moms. Shirley enjoyed bowling and was inducted into the Hoopeston Bowling Hall of Fame in 2012. She also enjoyed attending her kids and grandkids sporting events and was very active in the youth baseball concession stand and doing other tasks. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed visiting with her friends at the coffee club at McDonald’s, Henning’s and later 112 Coffee Shoppe. The love of Shirley’s life was her kids and grandkids. 

A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Thursday February 2, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston. 

Memorials may be made to the Hoopeston Area Sports Boosters, the Hoopeston Area Music Boosters, or Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston.
