Bobby William Jones, 77, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 1:53 A.M. Saturday February 25, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born April 30, 1945, in Sparksville, KY, the son of Chapman and Mollie (Petty) Jones. His mother survives in Hoopeston. He married Sharon Hampton on September 13, 1973, and she survives in Hoopeston.
He is also survived by two daughters, Paula Jones of Hoopeston, IL and Elizabeth (Rodney) Glass of Hoopeston, IL; two sons, Bobby Joe (Nancy) Jones of Lafayette, IN and Roy Jones of Hoopeston, IL; two sisters, Donna Pierce of Hoopeston, IL and Mary (Wally) Gilonske of Hoopeston, IL; one brother, Woodrow “Butch” Jones; one sister-in-law, Janet Madison; 11 grandchildren, Michelle Diaz, Rory (April) Kempen, Samantha (Joe) Becht, Josh (Erin) Kempen, Chelsea (Bobby) Sellers, Haley (Nick) Papanek, Paige Jones (André), Rylee Glass, Madison Jones (Kyle), Baylee Glass (Alex), and Aveah Jones; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chapman Jones; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Mary Hampton; three sisters, Tony, Anna, and Tammy; four brothers, Junior, Joey, Tommy, and John; brother-in-law, Mike Hampton; two sisters-in-law, Cathy Cooling and Ada Hudson; and one great-grandson, Nash Becht.
Bobby worked at Hoopeston Foods as a forklift driver for over thirty years, until his retirement. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed working on old cars and loved sitting under his shade tree in the backyard.
A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Thursday March 2, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 11:15 A.M. Thursday at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, with Pastor Carlos Sanchez officiating.
