Mary Anne Sorenson, 78, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 2:25 P.M. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.  She was born November 30, 1944, in Cissna Park, IL, the daughter of Paul and Gertrude (Crockett) Brenner.  She married Wilbur Sorenson Jr. on May 15, 1964.  He preceded her in death on May 18, 2001. 

She is survived by two daughters, Robin (Darren) Martin of rural Hoopeston, IL and Paula (Jimmy) McCullough of rural Hoopeston, IL; one sister, Linda Brenner of Hoopeston, IL; one brother, Gene (Nancy) Brenner of Wheaton, IL; four grandchildren, Rylee Martin, Kenny Ray, Emily Ray, and James McCullough; and several nieces and nephews. 

Along with her husband, Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents and special friend Leon Caldwell.   

Mary Anne worked from her home as a beautician, owning Mary’s Beauty Shop for 58 years.  Her and her husband owned and operated the Coffee Cup in Hoopeston for many years.  She was a member of the First Church of God in Hoopeston.  She enjoyed cooking and traveling with her special friend, Leon, to many national parks.  Mary Anne enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. 

Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.  A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M., Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The memorial service will follow the visitation and begin at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Carlos Sanchez officiating.  Burial will follow at Floral Hill Cemetery.
