Maxine Garner, 93, of Hoopeston

Maxine Louise Garner, 93, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 5:25 A.M. Tuesday April 18, 2023, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston. She was born September 15, 1929, in Hoopeston, IL, the daughter of Charles Ischmeal and Flossie Lorraina (Skinner) Allison. She married Donald Beckham Garner Jr. on September 27, 1950, at the United Methodist Church in Kankakee, IL. He preceded her in death.

 She is survived by one daughter, Sandra (Earl) Thompson of Hoopeston, IL; one sister, Charlotte Lorraine Marko of Hoopeston, IL; one grandson, Colby Alan (Julie) Thompson of Eldorado, IL; one great-granddaughter, Aspen Thompson and one great-grandson, Avery Thompson.

In addition to her husband, Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Randall Kent Garner; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Garner; one sister, Betty Hollen; and two brothers-in-law, Eddie Hollen and Bob Marko.

Maxine worked at The Chronicle in Hoopeston as a supervisor of the advertising department until her retirement. She enjoyed fishing and camping at Indian Springs and spending time with her family especially her grandson, Colby. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, and traveling.

A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Saturday April 29, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Saturday April 29th at the funeral home with Pastor Kathy Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
