Linda Carol Sexton, 75, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 10:40 A.M. Friday April 21, 2023, at her home. She was born September 11, 1947, in Breeding, KY, the daughter of Harrison and Zora Helen (Furkin) Wheeler. She married O’Dell Sexton on January 11, 1964, in Livingston, TN. He survives in Hoopeston.
She is also survived by one daughter, Lisa Sexton of Hoopeston, IL; one granddaughter, Linda Louise; one sister, Cathy (Rick) Moore of Hoopeston, IL; one brother, Delbert (Barbara) Wheeler of Auburn, IL; one step-brother, Ray Mayberry of Westville, IL; a special cousin who was like a sister, Donna Pearce of Hoopeston, IL; 4 nieces; and 5 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven Sexton; brother, Justin Wheeler; and step-mother, Marcella Wheeler.
Linda worked at Scranton’s in Hoopeston. She then worked at Hoopeston Coin Laundry and later ironed clothes from her home for over twenty years. She attended the First Church of God in Hoopeston. She enjoyed spending time with her family and collecting chickens and Coca-Cola memorabilia.
A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Monday May 1, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, Il. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Carlos Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
