Bunny G. Tweedy, 81, of Georgetown, IL, formerly of Rossville

Bunny G. Tweedy, 81, of Georgetown, IL, formerly of Rossville, IL, passed away at 7:58 P.M. Friday April 21, 2023, at Amber Glen Assisted Living in Urbana, IL. She was born December 14, 1941, in Talbott, IN, the daughter of Hubert Gregory and Hazel (Hurt) Morlan. She married Dale Tweedy, and they had four children.

She is survived by three daughters, Lisa Tweedy of Champaign, IL, Linda (Jim) Mills of Indianola, IL, and Jennifer Tweedy (Cassandra Johnson) of Urbana, IL; one sister, Rebecca Dawson of Beaverton, OR; one brother, Chuck Wallace of Hoopeston, IL; two grandchildren, Michael (Rachel) Ingram of Champaign, IL and Alexandria (Ty) Stetson of Carmel, IN; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Greg Tweedy; one sister, Wanda Gregory; and three brothers, Louis, Jack, and Fred Gregory.

Bunny worked as a longtime bookkeeper for Bowles Construction Co. She had previously worked as the operator of the Water and Water Treatment Plants for the Village of Rossville, as well as having served on the Village Board there.  In the late 70’s, she co-owned a brand-new business in downtown Rossville, Raggedy Ann & Andy’s, a children’s wear store.

She served on the Vermilion County Red Cross Board for many years, as well as the Red Cross’s Regional Donor Resources Advisory Board in Peoria. Bunny was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader in Hoopeston, a member of the Danville Garden Club and the Hoopeston Junior Women’s Club.  She previously attended the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Hoopeston.  She enjoyed traveling, gardening, listening to music, and spending time with her family.  She was also a voracious reader and loved watching Illini basketball.

A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Friday April 28, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Judy Ridlen officiating. Burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery.
