Carroll Eugene Watson, 83, of Danville

Carroll Eugene Watson, 83, of Danville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home, on June 12, 2023, with family by his side.

Carroll was born in Henning, Illinois, on November 14, 1939, to Glen and Leota (Grider) Watson.  He graduated from Henning High School, in 1957.

Carroll’s marriage of 53 years to Joyce (Fegett) began on August 29, 1969.  She survives.  In his younger years he was the pastor of the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church on Batestown Road.  In 2002, Carroll retired from Aramark Uniforms after 35 years of service.  He was a proud member of the Hillery Assembly of God Church, where he performed many duties which included being a greeter and the sign man.  He loved his church and church family greatly.

Carroll enjoyed fast cars and racing, especially with his son Glen.  He was known for keeping busy, he was always a man on a mission.  He loved going out for coffee and out to eat with his friends.  He loved and cared for animals of all kinds.  He was a member of TNR (Trap Neuter Return) and cared for many feral cats.  Mostly he loved his family and was devoted to them all.

Carroll is survived by his six children; Michael Watson of Oakwood, Todd (Vicki) Watson of Oakwood, Glen (Courtney) Watson of Fishers, Indiana, Jamie (Devon) Costello of Waterford, Michigan, Kim Watson of Danville and Adam (Amber) Watson of Oakwood; eleven grandchildren- Kayla Reed of Noblesville, Indiana, Marissa (Brett) Carroll of Fishers, Indiana, Cody Watson of Veedersburg, Indiana, Blake Watson of Danville, Ben Watson of Newman, Brock Watson of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Carson Costello of Waterford, Michigan, Aria Costello of Westville, Indiana, Nick Arbuckle of Normal, Illinois, Jocelyn Wood of Oakwood and Johnee Watson of Oakwood; four great-grandchildren- Cora Carroll, Henry Carroll, Sawyer Reed and Ruby Watson; aunt- Colleen (Bill) Martin of Texas; and many close friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister- Linda Franklin.

A Celebration of Carroll’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the Hillery Assembly of God, 19454 Henning Rd. Danville, IL 61834, with Pastor Kenny Young officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, at the church.  Burial will follow the service in the Potomac Cemetery.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, to assist them in honoring Carroll’s life.  Condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
