Alvin Grant Wilson, 91, of rural Danville

Alvin Grant Wilson, 91, of rural Danville, IL, passed away on Saturday June 17, 2023, at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville. He was born June 18, 1931, in Bismarck, IL, the son of Ray C. and Grace (White) Wilson. He married Leona Galyen on April 1, 1953, at her home in Washington, IL. She survives in rural Danville, IL.

He is also survived by two daughters, Alvena (Gary) Hudson of rural Danville, IL and Teresa (Robert) Warner of Urbana, IL; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven nieces; and five nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Miles; 4 sisters, Elsie, Ruth, Catherine, and June; three brothers, Dean, George, and Rex; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Orla; and one grandson, Marck Warner.

Alvin worked at Fleming Weller for thirty-two years as a concrete finisher and later worked at Drico as a millwright. He served in the United States Army Air Force. He was a member of the Chestnut Street Church of Christ in Hoopeston. Alvin enjoyed CB Radios, tinkering around in his garage, and collecting tractors. He also enjoyed going camping with his family and selling mini donuts at flea markets with his wife.

A visitation will be held 10:00- 11:30 A.M. Thursday June 22, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:30 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Milton and Rev. Bud McMasters officiating. Burial will follow in Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck, IL. Military rites will be accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Alvin to the Chestnut Street Church of Christ, 709 E. Chestnut St. Hoopeston, IL. 60942.
