Charlo W. "Charlie" Kuntz, 95, of Hoopeston

Charlo W. “Charlie” Kuntz, 95, of Hoopeston, IL, went home to be with the Lord at 4:46 P.M. Friday June 23, 2023, at Autumn Fields Adult Community in Hoopeston.  He was born April 18, 1928, in Iroquois County, the son of Lucien and Freida (Stock) Kuntz.  He married Gladys Otto on November 1, 1950, at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Hoopeston.  She preceded him in death. 

He is survived by five children, Ken (Dana) Kuntz of Hoopeston, IL, Mary (Jim) Hawley of Waukesha, WI, Ron (Jody) Kuntz of Hoopeston, IL, Susan (Mark) Wagoner of Hoopeston, IL, and Jayne Kuntz (Phil Chmielewski) of Champaign, IL; one daughter-in-law, Amy Kuntz of Bloomington, IL; one sister, 

 Marguerite Shoufler of Hoopeston, IL; 11 grandchildren, Andy (Kristina) Kuntz, Kristy (Zach) Langel, Abby (Phillip) McDonald, Katie Kuntz (Chris Turner), Heather (Matt) Olsen, Jimmy Hawley, Matthew (Alicia) Kuntz, Kerrie Kuntz, Daniel (Chelsea) Wagoner, Betsy (John) McLaughlin, and Emma Chmielewski, 16 great-grandchildren, Hadley and Kru McDonald, Beckett, Decker, and Harper Kuntz, Ryder and Emerson Langel, Julius and Violet Olsen, Graysha and Azalea Kuntz, Damon, Lee, Neil, and Nathan Wagoner, and Charlotte McLaughlin; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, David O. Kuntz, and sisters, Lillian Kuntz, Katherine Nease, and Mabel Farney. 

Charlie farmed and milked cows on his family farm for 27 years.  In 2002, he moved off the family farm and relocated to Hoopeston.   He served in the Army from November 1950 to November 1952.  He was the Highway Road commissioner in Fountain Creek Township for 19 years.  He attended the First Baptist Church in Hoopeston.  Charlie enjoyed telling stories, having coffee with his friends, and loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports.   

A visitation will be held 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.   Per Charlie’s wishes a graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston with Pastor Adam Taubert officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.
