Guadalupe G. “Lupe” Cordova, 84, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 4:54 A.M. Tuesday July 25, 2023, in Wellington, IL. He was born November 29, 1938, in Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Eliseo and Baudelia (Gonzalez) Cordova. He married Eva Castellano and she survives in Hoopeston.
He is also survived by four daughters, Sonia Cordova of Hoopeston, IL, Sandra Billingsley-Cordova (Bryan Billingsley) of Hoopeston, IL; Sylvia (Bradford) Elliott of Hoopeston, IL, and Esmerelda (Michael) Green of Rossville, IL; three sons, Guadalupe Cordova, Jr. (Phyllis Cox) of Hoopeston, IL, Arturo Cordova (Ernesto Aguirre) of Arlington, TX, and Eduardo (Brandie) Cordova of Hoopeston, IL; one brother, Refugio (Rosa) Cordova of Mexico City, Mexico; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Victorina and Alicia.
Guadalupe worked in maintenance at United Prairie until his retirement. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hoopeston and served as past President of the Migrant Council for many years. He enjoyed helping others and playing pool, dominos, chess, checkers, and Monopoly.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and a visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday August 4, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.
