Lenice Calley Miles, 89, of Penfield, IL, passed away at 9:18 P.M. Wednesday July 10, 2024, at home in rural Penfield, IL, surrounded by her family. She was born January 26, 1935, in Chandler, AZ, the daughter of Lenford and Bernice Imalee (McAdams) Calley. She married Eldon “Bud” Miles on July 23, 1953, in Chandler, AZ. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Maris (Norbert) Huls and Susan Miles; one son, James (Renee) Miles; 8 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Frank) Camacho, Michelle (Shaughnessy) Rice, Michael (Alyson) Huls, Justin (Elissa) Miles, Davin Miles, RaeLee Scamporino, Raven (Brandon) Garnett, and Rheanna (Josh) Taylor; and 16 great-grandchildren, Lily Rice, Lucas Camacho, Milo Huls, Roisin Rice, Levi Camacho, Maisy Huls, Shaughnessy Michael Rice, Griffin Rice, Maddux, Leo, Zeke, Thea, and Nash Scamporino, and Brecklyn, Daxton, and Suttyn Taylor. She is also survived by numerous in-laws who were a special part of her family and two special friends, Ilene Ackerman and Odie Milner.
In addition to her husband, Lenice was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Maxine Calley.
Lenice worked for Gordon Hannagan Auction Company for over 40 years where she spent a lot of time traveling to many land and horse sales. She especially enjoyed going to the Select Quarter Horse sale in Oklahoma. She loved working for the Hannagan family as she worked well into her 80’s. Lenice was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Royal, IL. She also enjoyed reading and had a love for flowers.
A visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Monday July 15, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home with Parker Acton officiating. Burial will follow in Potomac Cemetery in Potomac, IL.
