Helen Mae Compton, 88, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 10:26 A.M. Monday July 15, 2024, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston. She was born March 25, 1936, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Hershal and Mabel (Gladden) Judy. She married Joseph Compton, and he preceded her in death on February 13, 1998.
She is survived by one son, Joseph (Cindy) Compton; one son-in-law, David Williams; three grandsons, Troy (Melissa) Williams, Jeff Williams, and Joey Compton; seven great-grandchildren, Mercede Weaver, and Isaiha, Geovonie, Nyla, Zandar, Savannah, and Hannah Williams; two great-great-grandchildren, Brendan Mallette and Vincent Williams; a special sister-in-law, Eleanor Mann; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Debra Williams; five sisters, Velma, Alma, Eloise, June, and Joyce; one brother, Bob; two special friends, Larry Shipman and Speed Crozier; and several nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life, Helen worked at various factories including TRW, CBS, and FMC until her retirement. She was a member of the Hoopeston Community Church of the Nazarene. She loved camping and traveling and most of all, Helen loved her family.
A visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Friday July 19, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor Tom McCann officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
