Alan Charles Boyden, 69, of rural Wellington, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in Carmel, IN. He was born September 29, 1954, in Watseka, IL, the son of Chuck and Gerry (Allen) Boyden.
He is survived by three children, Jackie Norton of Rossville, IL, Julianne (Ryan) Andrews of Carmel, IN, and Schuyler (Lindsey) Boyden of Armstrong, IL and six grandchildren, Masie & Weston Norton, Kennedy & Brody Andrews, and Wyatt & Lucy Boyden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and loving sister, Sue O’Malley.
Alan was a life-long farmer, farming for over 45 years on the family grain and cattle farm with his dad, and later his son in Wellington. He enjoyed his time in southern Indiana where he expanded his cattle herd and also enjoyed visiting south Texas where he served as President of Winter Haven, Inc. Alan was devoted to his community as he served many years on the Wellington-Greer Fire Protection District. He enjoyed nature, history, watching the Kentucky Derby, and open wheel racing, especially the Indianapolis 500. Above all, Alan enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Central Daylight Time, Monday July 29, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Central Daylight Time, Monday July 29th, at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Milton officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland, IL.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Alan to the Wellington-Greer Fire Protection District or the Wellington United Methodist Church.
