Sara Ann Gaumer Field, 92, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 9:35 A.M. Wednesday July 31, 2024, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston. She was born July 16, 1932, in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Wayne and Juanita (Gates) Highley. She married E. Wayne Gaumer on June 10,1951, in Danville, IL. He preceded her in death in 1970. She later married Lloyd Field on March 11, 1976, in Shelbyville, IL and he preceded her in death in 1988.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, five brothers, and two brothers-in-law.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherry (Dan) Briggs of Minneapolis, MN and Terry (Danny) Silver of Hoopeston, IL; one son, David (Nancy) Gaumer of Champaign, IL; one sister, Rosie Doore; eight grandchildren, Joshua Gaumer, John Gaumer, Nicole Wendorf, Chadd Briggs, Emily Brown, Anne Shipman, Michael Silver, and Matthew Silver; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Sara had worked as a bookkeeper for Jay Hatz Ford-Mercury in Hoopeston. She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. She enjoyed playing Bridge, knitting, crocheting, and doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles. One of Sara’s greatest enjoyments was spending time with her family.
Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
