Mary Kathrine “Kathy” Simpson, 77, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 12:17 P.M. Sunday, August 25, 2024, at her home. She was born November 3, 1946, at home in rural Henning, IL, the daughter of Earl and Pauline (Carrier) Strawser. She married Robert L. Simpson on August 9, 1965, in Danville, IL. He survives in Hoopeston.
She is also survived by one daughter, Margie (Bobby) Morgeson of Hoopeston, IL; one son, Steve (Angie) Simpson of Hoopeston, IL; five grandchildren, Jeremiah Morgeson, Sara Morgeson, Lacey Martinez, Kylee Irvin, and Katie Torres; five great-grandchildren, Rowan and Royce Martinez, Kinslee Simpson, Trace Irvin, and Lena Torres; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Pauline Strawser; three sisters, Ruth Brazel, Martha Bell, and Linda Goodrum; and three brothers, Charles Strawser, Bob Strawser, and Richard Strawser.
Kathy worked at Essex Wire and later at Casey’s General Store for many years. She was baptized at the Rossville Church of Christ on December 25, 1956. She enjoyed her pool, playing cards, spending time with her family, and traveling with her husband, Bob.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
