Joseph Edward McGuire, 57, of Rankin

Joseph Edward McGuire, 57, of Rankin, IL, passed away at home surrounded by his family on September 4, 2024, ending a yearlong battle with cancer. He was born March 11, 1967, in Chicago, IL, the son of Joseph M. McGuire, Jr. and Christine (Rochowiak) Brown.

He is survived by his mother, Christine Brown; four daughters, Victoria, Julia, Emilia, and Zophia McGuire; three sisters, Maureen (Douglas) Norris, Kathleen McGuire, and Colleen (Jeffrey) Karn; one stepbrother, Len Brown; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph M. McGuire, Jr., and his grandparents, Edward and Genevieve Rochowiak and Joseph M. Sr. and Jeannette McGuire.

Joseph worked for Strategic Marketing & Mailing in Champaign and later at Teasdale Foods in mechanical maintenance. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hoopeston. Joseph’s hobbies included photography, building model airplanes, cooking, baking, and gardening. He also enjoyed riding and repairing motorcycles.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Friday, September 20, 2024, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL. Mass will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, September 21, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 318 Chicago Ave, Savanna, IL, followed by a burial at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Joseph E. McGuire Memorial Fund in care of his mother, Christine Brown, either at the services or sent to Christine Brown at 13 Hill St., Savanna, IL 61074.
