Philip Lewis “Phil” Hathaway, 81, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 1:05 P.M. Wednesday October 2, 2024, at The Waters of Covington in Covington, IN. He was born July 6, 1943, in Danville, IL, the son of Lewis Frailey Hathaway and Mildred Ruth Fredaborg (Olson) Hathaway. He married Tamara Gail Sellers on April 24, 1992, at the Rossville United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2023.
He is survived by one son, Parker Lewis (Hannah) Hathaway of Danville, IL; one sister, Mary Lou McGinnis of Quincy, IL; several loving nieces and nephews; and several close friends.
In addition to his wife, Tami, Philip was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and brother-in-law, Alex McGinnis.
Phil worked at Tee-Pak as the Human Resources Manager for 31 years, until his retirement, and was the former owner of The Village Pub in Rossville. He was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church. Phil enjoyed driving around looking for deer, hunting for sharks’ teeth at the beach, reading, and working in his shop. He was also a gun collector and enjoyed going to gun shows. Phil especially loved spending time with his friends and family and going on family vacations.
A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the Rossville United Methodist Church, 116 Maple St., Rossville, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church with Pastor Chris Quick officiating. Burial will follow at Mann’s Chapel in rural Rossville.
