Richard J. “Rick” Crothers, 67, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 12:03 P.M. Friday December 13, 2024, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born October 23, 1957, in Danville, IL, the son of Richard H. and Cleone (Glover) Crothers. He married Yvette McClure on January 11, 2008, in Danville, IL. She preceded him in death on December 4, 2021.
He is survived by his mother, Cleone Crothers; two daughters, Andrea Lopez and Natasha Crothers; one sister, Lori (Tony) Hasbargen; one brother, Steve (Karen) Crothers; eight grandchildren, Alexis, Michael, Sophia, John, Izabella, and Charlie Kerst, Gianna Lopez, and Azalea Poke; and seven nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Charlie, and Collin Crothers, Greg Bird, Samantha (Matthew) Farb, Todd (Amanda) Coon, and Alexandra (Jonathan) Lister.
In addition to his wife, Yvette, Rick was preceded in death by his father, Richard H. Crothers.
Rick was a supervisor at FMC in Hoopeston and later at Hyster. He most recently worked at Silgan Container until his retirement. He was a collector of comic books and coins and was an avid gun enthusiast. Rick also loved clay animation, riding his motorcycle, and most of all, spending time with his family.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
