Donald Wayne Jeffers, 70, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 12:50 P.M. Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the VA Illiana Health Care System Independence House in Danville, IL. He was born December 11, 1954, in Danville, IL, the son of Donald L. and Helen May (Davis) Jeffers. He married Shelia Leppard. She preceded him in death. He then married Elaine Bain, and she preceded him in death. He later married Jean Glasscock, and she also preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one niece, Kathy Salter; and his dog, Gizmo.
He is survived by one son, Derrick (Crystal) Leppard of Milford, IL; two sisters, Vickie Pierson of Prescott Valley, AZ and Tina (Donald) Jackson of Hoopeston, IL; one brother, David (Christina) Jeffers of Prescott Valley, AZ; two grandsons, Jasper and Sterling Leppard; four nieces and nephews, Melissa Buhrmester of Champaign, IL, Russell Jeffers, David (Shauna) Jeffers, and Joy (Alex) Heinemann all of Prescott Valley, AZ; and three cousins, Marlene (Carl) Shipman, Barb (Bob) Hale, and Bernadette Bruner.
Donald worked as a CNA at the Danville VA and later worked as a carpenter for many years. He served in the United States Navy from 1974-1975. He enjoyed painting, fishing, and camping. Donald especially loved his dog, Gizmo.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 30, 2024, at the Danville National Cemetery, 1900 E. Main St., Danville, IL. Military rites will be accorded.
