Stephen Leslie Foster, 77, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 4:55 P.M. Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born December 26, 1947, in Lafayette, IN, the son of Kenneth E. and Lila (Schwartz) Foster. He married Sandra Dee Wilson on January 4, 2008. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by one daughter, Lacy Lynette Foster of Savoy, IL; one son, Darran Neil Foster of Colfax, IL; two step-daughters, Tiffani (David) Dugle and Rachel (Ben) Sollars; one brother, David (Pat) Foster of Wellington, IL; five grandchildren, Darran Foster, Levi Foster, Britney Huckleby, Jelainey (Eric) Schmidt, and Lance Meuser; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, Brielle, Calvin, and Reed Foster, and Logan Mary Schmidt; and five nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Steve was preceded in death by his parents.
Steve served in the United States Army for twenty-five years. He later worked as a truck driver until his retirement. He was a member of the Wellington United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Buddy Egnew VFW Post #4826 and Hoopeston American Legion Post #384, where he served on the Honor Guard for several years. One of Steve’s greatest enjoyments was reflecting on anything military.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday January 10, 2025, at Rossville Cemetery in Rossville, IL, with Pastor Kathy Murphy officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Steve to the Hoopeston American Legion Honor Guard, 502 E. Penn St., Hoopeston, IL 60942.
