Barbara Jean Lewis, 90, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 6:50 A.M. Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center. She was born October 4, 1934, in Stop, KY, the daughter of Donald B. Garner Sr. and Sarah Mollie (Ramsey) Garner. She married Ralph Vernon Lewis on December 22, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Ambia, IN. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2015.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Beverly; four brothers, Don, Monk “Claude”, Glenn, and Jimmy; and one daughter-in-law, Tammy Lewis.
She is survived by one daughter, Lea Ann (Rick) Lile of Hoopeston, IL; one son, Doug Lewis of Hoopeston, IL; four grandchildren, Alisha (Justin) Cox, Justin Lewis, PJ Bailey, and Summer (Tony) Badger; great-grandchildren, Ava, Kingston, Axel, Gabe, Bentley, Charleigh, and Kaizley; and several nieces and nephews.
Throughout Barbara’s life she worked at several factories including at Gulbransen, CBS, and Schumacher Electric until her retirement. She enjoyed the swimming pool for many years and loved caring for her flowers and garden. Most of all, Barbara loved her kids and family.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 10, 2025, at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, IL with Pastor Micah Mobley officiating.
