Armando “Mondo” Montez, 64, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 2:59 P.M. Thursday, January 9, 2025, at his home. He was born December 30, 1960, in McAllen, TX, the son of Antonio Montez, Sr. and Otilia Maria (Obregon) Montez. They preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sisters, Norma Linda (Ryan) Cade and Angelica Maria Montez (Gary Watson), three brothers, Antonio “Tony” Montez, Jr., Jesus “Jesse” Montez, and Reynaldo “Rey” (Lori) Montez; and nine nieces and nephews, Nick (Ashley) Montez, Jose (Britteny) Montez, Benjamin Montez, Raven N. Rutherford, Xavier Rivera, Olivia Montez (Junior Hartman), and Madison, Mila, and Danielle Watson.
Armando previously worked for the City of Hoopeston Water Department, TMF in Williamsport, IN, and most recently, Silgan Containers in Hoopeston. He was a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, and Illini football and basketball. He loved music, Bigfoot, UFO sightings, and cars, especially Mustangs. Armando also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
