Austin Hiram Crawford, Sr., 86, of Wellington

Austin Hiram Crawford, Sr., 86, of Wellington, IL, passed away at 11:40 P.M. Sunday January 12, 2025, at his home. He was born December 4, 1938, at home in rural Milford, IL, the son of James “Jack” and Mary (Stroud) Crawford. He married Patricia Anne Gocken on January 8, 1983. She survives in Wellington.

He is also survived by one daughter, Cathy (Stuart) Galloway of Milford, IL; one son, Austin Hiram (Amy Jo) Crawford, Jr. of Milford, IL; one step-daughter, Janet Lynn Focken of Watseka, IL; and one step-son, James Martin (Tami) Harwood of Milford, IL; brother-in-law, Bob Cornell of Galena, IL; six grandchildren, George, Sarah, Travis(Bayley), Daniel, Caitlin, and Cara Jo; four great-grandchildren, Vivian, Lyna, Karlee, and Maize; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lillian (Glen) Finley and Virginia Cornell; and one brother, Frank (Stella) Crawford.

Hiram worked at Tuttle’s Grocery Store and as an auxiliary police officer in Watseka. He later worked at Stockland Elevator and then Fremont Company in Milford, until his retirement. He was a member of the Milford Christian Church. He had also been a member of the Hoopeston Masonic Star Lodge #709 since1969, serving for over 50 years.

Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and a service will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Hiram to the Hoopeston Masonic Star Lodge #709, 208 W. Orange St., Hoopeston, IL 60942.
