Kazuko Hardcastle, 92, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 1:22 P.M. Sunday February 9, 2025, in Hoopeston. She was born March 9, 1932, in Kyoto, Japan, the daughter of Toshio and Tatsuko Fujioka. She married John Wesley Hardcastle on August 20, 1957, in Kobe, Japan. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Christine Hardcastle of Champaign, IL; one son, John E. (Leslie) Hardcastle of Hoopeston, IL; three grandchildren, Mandi Hardcastle, Bradley (Alexis) Hardcastle, and Ariel (Aaron) Foster; and five great-grandchildren, Audra Powell, Alec, Alan, and Ezra Foster, and Syna Price.
In addition to her husband, Kazuko was preceded in death by her parents.
Kazuko worked at Howard Industries and later at Schmacher Electric until her retirement. In her later years, she worked at McDonald’s in Hoopeston. She enjoyed making origamis, watching sports, and reading the newspaper. She also enjoyed socializing with her friends and spending time with her family.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday February 19, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
