Ingeborg Anita Kent, 91, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away on February 12, 2025, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston. She was born April 24, 1933, in Lauscha, Germany, the daughter of Paul and Lena Scheler. She married an American soldier, Richard Strawser, traveling to live in the United States in 1957.
Inge spent most of her life as a homemaker raising five children. She later married Oscar Kent, and they were married for 20 years. He preceded her in death. Inge enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, and gardening. She also enjoyed bird watching and watching TV, especially game shows and the Lifetime channel.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy (K.P.) Kling of Washington, IA and Kim (Bob) Franklin of Sidney, IL; three sons, Paul (Donna) Strawser of Hoopeston, IL, Dick Strawser of Danville, IL, and Scott (Charlotte) Strawser of Hoopeston, IL; 16 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Gisela Lauth of Germany and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Oscar, Inge was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be held 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:00 A.M Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Kenneth Cameron officiating. Burial will follow in Iroquois Memorial Park in Watseka, IL.
