Carol Lucille Clark, 77, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 11:32 P.M. Monday February 24, 2025, at her home. She was born June 20, 1947, in Adrian, MI, the daughter of James and Helen (Germand) Cleveland. She married John William Clark on July 14, 1973, in Hammond, IN. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2025.
She is survived by five children, Michelle (Stephen) Brown of Fort Wayne, IN, Stephen Clark of Pittsburgh, PA, Andrew Clark of Jacksonville, FL, Carl (Jody) Clark of Rankin, IL, and Dianne (Alex) Trimble of Bismarck, IL; six grandchildren, Lauren and Aaron Brown, Caleb and Lucas Clark, and Logan and Emma Trimble; two nieces; and three nephews.
In addition to her husband, John, Carol was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Cleveland; and one brother, Robert Cleveland.
Carol was an elementary teacher, teaching first grade at Maple Grade School in Hoopeston until her retirement. She was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church where she was very active. She had a passion for sewing and teaching others as she was a member of Sew CU and Illini Country Stitchers. She also enjoyed sewing for charities such as Project Linus and Crisis Nursery. Carol was also a member of the retired Maple School teacher’s group and the Vermilion County Retired Teacher’s group. She was a teacher at heart and continued teaching others after retirement. Most of all, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Cremation rites will be accorded. To honor both Carol and John, a visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 5, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL. The memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Kathy Murphy officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
