Wilhelm E. Schwarz, 83, of rural Rossville

Wilhelm E. Schwarz, 83, of rural Rossville, IL, passed away at 9:00 A.M. Thursday March 13, 2025, at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center. He was born May 30, 1941, in Frankfurt, Germany, the son of Julius and Sofie (Schuster) Schwarz. He married Ruth Klatt on August 5, 1967, in Chicago, IL. She survives in rural Rossville.

He is also survived by one daughter, Heidi Marie Schwarz (David Hoffman) of Rantoul, IL; two grandsons, Jacob David Schwarz and Zachary William Schwarz; two nieces, Anneliese (Tom) Smolic and Maureen Malecki; and several great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Michael Schwarz; one sister, Anneliese Sh?fer; one brother, Hans; and sister-in-law, Maureen.

Wilhelm worked as a union painter and was a lifetime member of the Chicago Painters Local Union # 147. He served in the United States Army. He was a forty-year member of the American Legion in Stickney, IL, and later Rossville, IL. Wilhelm enjoyed hunting, fishing, and painting birdhouses and nutcrackers. He also enjoyed boating on Lake Michigan, feeding Hummingbirds and birdwatching. Wilhelm was an avid Illini fan working as an usher at Illini football games.

Visitation will be held 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 24, 2025, at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Stickney, IL. Military rites will be accorded.
