Jerry Dean Jones, 86, of Rossville, IL passed away at 8:27 A.M. Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at his home. He was born on September 25, 1938, in Danville, IL, the son of Ezra and Mable (Hopper) Jones. He married Linda Katherine Lee on July 12, 1958, in Corinth, MS. She survives in Rossville.
He is also survived by two daughters, Rachel E. (Jeff) Still of Neoga, IL, and Sarah K. (Seth) Knierim of Colorado Springs, CO; three sons, Gregory D. (Kathy) Jones of St. Louis, MO, Bradley L. (Melissa) Jones of Fishers, IN, and Jason L. (Kris) Jones of Bondurant, IA; one daughter-in-law, Brook Jones of Springfield, IL; twenty-four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by one son, Charles C. Jones; and two grandsons, Andrew and Jarett Jones.
Jerry served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He currently attended the First Church of God in Hoopeston, IL. He was an ordained minister with the Assembly of God Church and an evangelist in inter denominational churches and tent meetings. He was a pastor at the Praise Assembly of God in Charleston, IL and later at the First Assembly of God in Paris, IL. Jerry was the founder and director of the Danville Rescue Mission, and CEO of the Huntsville Alabama Downtown Mission and the Indianapolis Lighthouse Mission.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Morning Star Church 201 N. Chicago St. Rossville, IL with Pastor Micah Mobley officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
