Thomas Allen Richter, 88, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 9:03 A.M., Thursday April 10, 2025, at his home. He was born September 10, 1936, in Oakwood, IL, the son of Wesley and Mildred (Eldridge) Richter. He married Margaret Ellen Long on September 4, 1959, at the First Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on January 28, 2011.
He was also preceded in death by eight siblings, Ethel, Howard, Frank, Margaret, Norma, Linda, Dorothy, and Robert; and two special friends, Carolyn Sue Dazey and Marie Urich.
He is survived by one son, Brian (Imelda) Richter of Oceanside, CA; one daughter, Laura Johnson of Lebanon, MO; two grandchildren, Julian Richter and Galen Richter; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom worked for the Illinois State Police, retiring after 30 years of service. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Chestnut Street Church of Christ in Hoopeston. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, and taking care of his garden and flowers.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and no services will be held.
