Larry Farrell, 83, of Hoopeston

Larry Lee Farrell, 83, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 4:20 P.M. Sunday, August 10, 2025, at his home. He was born April 12, 1942, in Ambia, IN, the son of Raymond and Marjorie (Boltz) Farrell. He married Vickie Gaydos on May 1, 1971, at the First Christian Church in Hoopeston. She survives in Hoopeston.

He is also survived by two sons, David (Maria) Farrell of Tucson, AZ and John (Carolyn) Farrell of McCordsville, IN; two sisters, Doris Long of St. Joseph, IL and Patricia Farrell of Hoopeston, IL; one sister-in-law, Ruby Farrell of Hoopeston, IL; six grandchildren, David, Ryan, Nolan, Viviana, Jack, and Paige Farrell; one great grandchild, River Ty Farrell; and three nieces and nephews, Tom (Cheryl) Long, Lisa (Kevin) Sage, and Beth (Jeremiah) Eyrich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mick Farrell; and brother-in-law, Tom Long.

Larry owned and operated L & M Lunch in downtown Hoopeston with his brother, Mick, from December 20, 1965, until their retirement in March 2008. He served in the United States Army and Army Reserve for six years. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hoopeston where he served as an usher and on the Parish Council. He was also a member of the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384 and the Hobby Club. Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, collecting antiques, and having coffee with friends.

A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Monday, August 18, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home with Father Ignatius Mulenda and Father Ted Pracz officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston with military rites being accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.
