Ronald Thomas Lewis, 85, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 3:18 P.M. Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at his home. He was born February 22, 1940, in Blaze, KY, the son of Wilbur and Stella Lewis. He married Marsha Dean Hickman on November 11, 1976, at the Nazarene Church in Rossville, IL. She survives in Hoopeston.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Phyllis (Dallas) Wells; and one brother, Ralph (Barb) Lewis.
Ronald worked at Hoopeston Area C.U.S.D. #11 for over thirty years, retiring from Building and Grounds. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Hoopeston American Legion Color Guard. He was also a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Milford, IL. Ronald was an avid volunteer, supporting H.A.R.T. with donations, Little League Baseball, Boy Scouts, and the Hoopeston Jaycees. He enjoyed camping, playing cards, visiting with friends, and going out to eat with his wife and friends. Ronald was also an avid reader and collector of various items.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Hoopeston United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 403 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL. Following the Celebration of Life, military rites will be accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Ronald to the Hoopeston Animal Rescue Team (H.A.R.T), 901 W. Main St., Hoopeston, IL 60942.
