Michael Joseph “Joe” Hoskins, 83, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 6:27 A.M. Monday November 17, 2025, at his home. He was born May 12, 1942, in Danville, IL, the son of Frank Leroy Hoskins, Sr. and Anne Kate (Trent) Hoskins. He married Carol Jo McBride on October 5, 1963. She survives in Hoopeston.
He is also survived by one daughter, Heather L. Hoskins; two sons, Kent J. (Jane) Hoskins and Brian K. (Shanon) Hoskins; one sister, Kay J. Mistlebauer; one brother, Frank L. Hoskins; sister-in-law, Georgia (Martin) Hoskins; seven grandchildren, Craig, Breanna, Raelyn, Brendan, Erin, Kameron, and Taylor; nine great-grandchildren; three nieces; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Henry “Bud” Hoskins; brother-in-law, Carl Mistlebauer Sr.; sister-in-law, Shirley (Miller) Hoskins; two nieces, Alicia (Hoskins) Ramsey and Samantha (Mistlebauer) Koesling; and one nephew, Carl Mistlebauer Jr.
Joe worked at FMC in Hoopeston for over thirty years until its closure. He then worked at Danville Metal for several years until his retirement. In his younger years, Joe volunteered his time serving as the coach of his son’s baseball team and his daughter’s softball team. He also enjoyed woodworking, drawing, painting, and fishing. Joe loved walking his dog, Maddie, and working outside in his yard.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL. The memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 29th at the funeral home with Larry Baughn officiating. No burial will be held.
