Ronald Clayborn, 70, of Hoopeston

Ronald Lee Clayborn, 70, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 9:52 P.M. Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born September 6, 1955, at Lakeview Hospital in Danville, IL, the son of Everett Lee and Ruby May (Kitchens) Clayborn. He married Candis Warner on June 29, 1991, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hoopeston. She survives in Hoopeston.
He is also survived by his son, Nicholas Clayborn of Ogden, IL; four sisters, Joyce Brown of Urbana, IL, Stella Bailey of Danville, IL, Betty (Bob) Nicklas of Hoopeston, IL, and Carol (Tim) Hollis of Lafayette, IN; three grandchildren, Steven Wilson of Upton, KY, Taylor Wilson of Elizabethtown, KY, and Garrett (Tori) Wilson of Mt. Sherman, KY; and two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Journey Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Ruby Clayborn; his daughter, Amanda Wilson; four sisters, Gladys (Leland) Houmes, Clair (Les) Waltz, Ona Blakey, and Mary (Robert) Muldanado; two brothers, Charles Clayborn and Theo Clayborn; brothers-in-law, Larry Brown and John Bailey; and three nieces, Donna O’Neal, Michelle Colleen-Cloyd, and Crystal Waltz.
Ronald was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He worked as a judicator for the Illinois Department of Employment Security for twenty-five years until his retirement. He was a huge St. Louis Cardinal’s fan and enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, history, and was an avid reader. Ron also enjoyed attending gun shows, sitting on his front porch and going for a ride. His laughter and smile will be missed.
Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Archie Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
