John Lawrence Barr, 69, of East Lynn, IL, passed away at 4:42 P.M., Saturday, May 23, 2026, at his home. He was born on November 29, 1956, in Danville, IL, the son of Johnny and Joyce (Christensen) Barr. He married Lynn Fraley on June 21, 1986, in Hoopeston, IL. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2023.
He is survived by one daughter, Jessi Barr of East Lynn, IL; one son, Justin (Nikki) Barr of Williamsport, IN; two sisters, Daryl (Dave) Mitchell of Loda, IL and Kristi Barr of East Lynn, IL; three grandchildren, Xander Messinger, and Mason and Anna Barr; one great-grandchild, R.J. Barr; and nine nieces and nephews, Chelsea, Kaitlyn, Josh, Devin, Adam, Nick, Zach, Stephen, and Devin.
In addition to his wife, Lynn, John was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Joyce Barr and one son, Duder Barr.
John owned and operated his own roofing company. He later worked at Caradco which later became JELD-WEN. He then worked for Danner Construction in Rossville and then Hoopeston Foods until his retirement. John served in the United States Air Force from December 2, 1974 – August 29, 1979, as an Aircraft Mechanic. He enjoyed riding his Harley, gardening, and playing his guitar and singing in a band. John especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at John’s house in East Lynn.
