James Robert “Bob” Mayberry, 90, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 1:50 P.M., Saturday September 19, 2026, at his home. He was born on April 6, 1936, in Butler Township, Vermilion Co., IL, the son of Amos and Alma (Cunningham) Mayberry. He married Delores “Dee” Hitt on July 7, 1977, in Hoopeston. She survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Kathy Lynn (Peter) Patton and Gail Ann (Dave) Costello; two stepdaughters, Cindy (Herb) Young and Carla Snyder; one stepson, Stan (Becky) Snyder; five grandchildren, Ann (Adam) Underwood, David Costello, Jr., Chris (Jamie) Costello, Nichole McAllister, and Eric (Sarah) Millis; five step-grandchildren, Casey (Lisa) Young, David (Jennifer) Young, Jessica (Bobby) Valles, and Austin and Steven Snyder; nine great-grandchildren, Liam, Ruth, Addison, Ben, Joshua, and Ian Underwood, Isiah (Mariana Hernandez), Caitlyn, and Elijah Huffman; six step-great-grandchildren, Dylan, Holly, and Isaac Young, Robert and Ava Valles, and Cayden Snyder; and one more on the way; and one great-great-granddaughter, Nyla Blackwell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Alma Mayberry; stepson, Steven Snyder; four brothers; and one sister.
Bob was a truck driver, driving for Rayls Brothers. He later drove for the US Mail and then Ryder Trucking until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and was proud to have built his home. Bob also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, models, and playing computer games.
Visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL. A graveside service will follow the visitation and will begin at 2:15 P.M., Wednesday, September 22nd, at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, IL.
