Robert J. “Bob” Moore, 90, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 8:20 A.M. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at his home. He was born on July 29, 1936, at home in Wellington, IL, the son of Robert and Jeanette (Swalve) Moore. Bob met Patricia Hicks at Davies Packing Company in Danville, IL, whom he later married on August 25, 1962, in Armstrong, IL. She preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; his daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Tom Ritter; brother-in-law, Bill Winters; sister, Darlene Yocum; and grandson, Andrew Jones.
Bob is survived by two daughters, Merry (Harry) Hostetler of Fort Meade, FL and Kathy (Greg) Jones of Columbus, OH; one sister, Delores Winters of Kingman, IN; one brother, Dewain (Marilyn) Moore of Cissna Park, IL; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four nieces; and one nephew.
Bob’s working life began on the farm, and he later took to the road as a truck driver for Peterson Puritan, Ravens, Grace Trucking, and Auto Zone before retiring. Bob attended the Rossville United Methodist Church. In his younger years, he loved playing fast pitch softball. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, tending his garden, caring for his lawn, watching sports on television, and taking rides around town on his golf cart. Above all, Bob treasured time spent with his family, especially the memorable trips he shared with his grandchildren to St. Louis Cardinals baseball games.
Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Friday, October 2, 2026, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Mikel officiating. Burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery, Rossville, IL.
